What is 3D Vision

Well, 3D Vision is a technology by Nvidia which enables real 3-D gaming experience by using special shutter glasses as well as 3-D ready LCD screens. Gamers not only experience the game more realistic but also more impressive and fun. If you once have tried 3-D gaming, you never want to do normal gaming any more, because in simple words, it's like "swimming without water" with 3D turned off.

I can tell you, the effect is simply amazing.

All you need for a 3-D vision enabled system is:

  • Nvidia's 3-D vision set
  • a 3-D supporting LCD screen (at least 120 Hz)
  • a Nvidia graphics card that supports 3D-Vision (GTX 2xx to GTX 5xx)
  • Windows 7 Operating System
  • latest NVIDIA Drivers

If you want to additionally play your games in surround that means on three screens, I recommend using a SLI-ready-system (at least two cards of the same model) and three monitors. (I use 2x GTX 480 and 3x SAMSUNG Syncmaster 2233RZ)

It is indeed not cheap to afford such a system, but it's worth its money, if you want the ultimate gaming experience, especially for shooters or driving games.
